We all know that a computer is an electronic device that runs on a constant electric voltage of 220-240 Volts(AC). High voltage or fluctuation in electric voltage may damage computer hardware as well as corrupt files(it damaged the hard disk that corrupts files of the operating system).
We can use power protection devices to protect our important data, information, and programs that are lost due to the failure and fluctuation of electric voltage. Power protection device such as Volt guards, stabilizers, etc avoids such fluctuation in power supply.
some power protection devices are as follows.
- UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply): It stores electricity and automatically provides backup power continuously to the computer in case of electricity failure in the source. It protects a computer system from power failure and fluctuation of electric voltage.
- Volt Guard: It provides a constant output voltage to the computer system in case of high input voltage supplied from the source. It is another kind of power protection device that control the fluctuation of electric voltage. If high voltage is supplied from the source then Volt Guard converts them to constant output voltage between 220 to 240 Volts.
- Spike Gaurd: Due to lightning, power-line faults, etc, sudden overvoltage up to 2000v is known as Spikes. To save the computer from this spike, we used equipment called a spike guard. Spike guards remove the spike and prevent it from entering the main.
- Voltage Stabilizers: voltage stabilizers are constant power supply to computer systems in case of frequent voltage fluctuations or power failure. It generates a fixed output voltage of a preset magnitude that remains constant regardless of changes to its input voltage or load conditions.
